The Best Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies- EVER
Have you been looking for the ultimate cookie recipe? The one that will blow your friends socks off? Look no further- I am here to save the day. Seriously.
My sister-in-law doesn’t know this, but I have an ongoing and very unspoken competition (except to my husband) for who is the better cook and/or baker between the two of us. Let me say this- my sister-in-law is a very good cook and baker, so this really spurs on the competition I have going on. Since we are really good friends and live a lot of life together we end up bringing our home cooked things to a lot of the same places. This past year she started making these cookies that I literally could not stop eating. People were raving over them, then she goes and decides to put this drizzle on them and just blows them even more out of the water.
Now maybe I am a touch too competitive, but I just had to come up with an equally to-die-for cookie that would put hers to shame. After a few trial and errors, enter in these amazing oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Not only are these cookies melt-in-you-mouth delicious, the cookie dough might be even better. Anytime we host a family movie night everyone asks if we have any frozen cookie dough. If there is let me assure you none make it out of the movie night alive unless I hide a few! Did I win the unspoken cookie competition… well let’s just say she’s asked for the recipe.
Have I convinced you yet?

This summer we started making homemade ice cream, wow if you haven’t made any homemade ice cream.. you’re missing out. But that is another blog post for another day. Back to the cookie dough. This cookie dough is so good that not only did I put the dough straight into the ice cream to freeze, but I also baked tiny cookies from the dough and put them in the ice cream as well. Let me just say- Blue Bell might have some competition.
You can eat the dough fresh from the mixer or fresh from the freezer. Who doesn’t taste the batter? If you haven’t, please try this batter, you will never be the same. Since this cookie recipe is literally the best, if I bake the entire batch of dough we eat all of the cookies so fast. So when I make this recipe I freeze the entire batch of dough, take out what I want to bake and store the rest in a gallon sized zip lock for later. This helps our family not go wild and eat 24 cookies within a day.
I love that I have from scratch cookies ready to bake at any time in my freezer. It’s perfect for an after school treat for the kids, something great to take to a gathering, or just a sweet treat straight out of the freezer whenever you want or need.
Okay enough, tell me how to make these cookies already!

Tips and tricks:
- Don't skimp out on the "chilling" instruction. These cookies need time to "set" and bake best after a short period in the freezer. Trust me I am impatient too- but I promise they will not disappoint. If you can't physically wait to try one- EAT THE DOUGH. Thank me later.
- Bake until slightly browned- Do not over bake these.
- Unless you just don't like salt.. USE THE FINISHING SALT. Again thank me later.
