Our story
We got married 9 years ago and bought our first home on 1.5 acres of land. There was so much potential in the property and house, but so much work needed to be done on both. No worries- I married a handyman- turned General Contractor! As newlyweds we were living on a tight budget- so we had to get creative to save money to do some small but transformative updates to our home. Shortly into our journey of home ownership- we found out we were pregnant with our first child! We were over the moon and at the same time terrified. As parents to be- we started to consider (maybe for the first time) products & food we were using and consuming daily- this catapulted us into a major lifestyle switch.
Fast forward 9 years- we have three kids (7, 5 and 1.5)! We have been pursuing a simple lifestyle, intentionally sourcing our food and products, we own front yard chickens and our garden has tripled in size. One month ago we broke ground renovating our house and adding onto both sides! It has already been a wild ride. We are so excited to be in our dream home on the land we have cared for for almost a decade. Come along with us as we work towards a slower paced life- a life of intentional simple living in Our Little Valley!
A bit about me
- I’m from a small town
- I love old homes- my parents still live in the early 1900s house I grew up in.
- A nurse by trade-turned homesteading enthusiast- and stay at home mom.
- I swore I would NEVER have a garden… Little did I know one day it would be a favorite past time!
- I love cooking for my family- always looking for the next recipe to try.
- My 6 year old sourdough starter, is basically our house pet.
- If you ask me where my favorite place to be-it’s outside with my family working on something together.
- Traveling with my husband and 3 children has become a must.
